Scottsdale AZ – The Street Standard team debuts the first ever early model BMW Pandem E30 convertible! The Pandem E30 Wide Body Kit was designed for the later (or kouki) model E30’s, using the euro style front and rear bumpers. We wanted to go for a slightly more unique and diverse style. We wet the route of fitting the Pandem kit to our E30 convertible equipped with the early (or zenki) style bumpers, often referred to as “diving boards”. There was a bit of modification required to fit the Pandem kit, the main differences being angles of the fender to side skirt and lines for the rear over fenders. The geometry of the early model BMW E30s have more of a slope at the bottom of the rear fenders as well as having a little longer side skirt.
Our main drive behind fitting the BMW E30 Pandem kit to the early model BMW E30 convertible was not soley to test fit the kit on an early model E30, but to actually build a car that could a car that was rare in Japan. The Kouki “Diving Board” bumpers do not exist in Japan via production and are often sought after because of how uncommon they are! Kei Miura gives alot of credit to the Bosozoku automotive community as far as styling styling, so it not only felt appropriate, but we wanted to tribute Miura-San as well as the Boso community in Japan.
